Winter Facts with Micayla

Hey Cougars, this is your Commissioner of School Services, Micayla Mendoza.  I’m going to tell you all about the season of winter.

  • The winter season starts on December 21st and ends March 20th.
  • The world’s biggest snowflake was 15 inches across and 8 inches thick.
  • The world’s biggest hailstone weighed almost two pounds!
  • The speed ski record is 109.14 mph set by Ralph Miller of the U.S.
  • In Los Gatos, February 1976, it snowed a total of 2 inches.
  • The world’s biggest snowman was 122 feet tall.
  • No two snowflakes are the same.
