A Halloween Recipe by Micayla
Hey cougars! I’m Micayla Mendoza, Commissioner of School Services. With Halloween right around the corner everyone should be getting in the Halloween spirit. One fun and festive way you can do this is by making a Halloween dessert. One treat you can make is Halloween sugar cookies. The ingredients needed to make them are:
1. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and the sugar until smooth. Next, beat in the eggs and vanilla. Stir in the flour, baking powder, and salt. Cover and chill the dough for at least one hour.
2. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Roll out the dough on a floured surface 1/4 to 1/2 inches thick. Using halloween cookie cutters, cut the dough into shapes. Place the cookies 1 inch apart on greased cookie sheets. Bake the cookies for 6 to 8 minutes.
3. Frost the cookies and decorate them with sprinkles or candies. Enjoy and have a happy Halloween!

Tips on How to Scare People on Halloween by Lindsay
Hey Cougars, its Lindsay, Commissioner of Philanthropy and Environmental Affairs, here to tell you how to scare people on Halloween! First of all, you have to be very precise and plan ahead. One way you can do this is by not having your shadow be seen if you are sneaking up on somebody, or having an attention-grabber set up prior, such as a fog machine. Once you are prepared, you need to find the ideal moment to get a thrill out of the person you are about to frighten. Make sure that the person is alone, also keep in mind that the key element is SURPRISE! An idea to petrify this person is to yell something loud or quick, or give off an illusion that it isn’t you scaring them.
I hope this helps you all, have a spooky Halloween!

Charities by Thomas
Hey Cougars, this is your Recording Administrator, Tommy Hughes. I’m going to tell you about what I would do with leftover candy. The idea that I will give all of you is to give it to charity. This is good for you, especially if you have braces. Operation Gratitude sends care packages to troops overseas. These troops will definitely appreciate your candy. Operation Shoebox is another organization that mails packages to the troops in Iraq. The only cost to do this is the fee for shipping within California. If you were to donate an additional $11, the donation would cover the overseas postage. I hope you have a great and exciting Halloween.

Safety Tips by Edmund
Hey Cougars, it’s Edmund, your Commissioner of Religious Affairs, the one on announcements every morning. I have some safety tips for your trick or treating this Halloween. Be sure to always go with someone else whether it be a parent, friend, or older sibling be sure to always stick with them. Remember that everyone is not your friend, don’t go with anyone you don’t know, and stay close to your house. Last but not least, make sure you don’t eat candy that was already opened even if you got it from someone you know. Keep all of these things in mind this Halloween. And remember to always have fun!
A Poem by Elizabeth
H- "hoot" say the owls perched high in trees
A- abandoned mansions glow upon the hilltops
L- lengthy skeletons rattle as they walk
L- lovely ghosts teach young ghosts to scare
O- on the dark streets, children trick o' treat
W- walking zombies eat the brains of little monsters
E- evening sounds play tricks on the mind
E- elephant vampires show their fangs
N- nasty villains spook the graves of the dead
A- abandoned mansions glow upon the hilltops
L- lengthy skeletons rattle as they walk
L- lovely ghosts teach young ghosts to scare
O- on the dark streets, children trick o' treat
W- walking zombies eat the brains of little monsters
E- evening sounds play tricks on the mind
E- elephant vampires show their fangs

Sorting Candy by Ben
Hey Cougars, this is Ben, one of your
commissioners of spirit. I’m going to
tell all about sorting your Halloween candy and the best way to do it. I have a
few steps to make it very easy for you.
The first thing that you should do is separate the sweet and sour
candies from the chocolates. This is
important because sometimes
you are feeling like chocolate and other times you are feeling like sweets and
sours. The second thing you should do,
to get even more specific, is to
divide the milk and dark chocolate and divide the sweets from the sours. After that, to take it to another level, you need to
separate hard and chewy candies in the sweet section, the sour section, the
milk chocolate section, and the dark chocolate section. If you want to, you could put all the
lollipops in one section and other hard candies in another. And finally, you need to put labels on each
section to keep it organized. Obviously,
this is the best method to organize your candy; it’s a must do for this years collection!
Respectfulness By Louis
Hello,
my name is Louis Normandin and I will tell you about how to have a great
Halloween without getting into trouble.
It is pretty easy to stay out of trouble on Halloween night but people
sometimes walk into the middle of a conflict. The most common reason for people
to get in trouble is bowls full of delicious candy. When someone leaves out a
bowl and has a sign that says, "Take only one" I know how temping it can be. I have personal experience with this problem.
I was trick or treating last year with a couple of friends and we went to this
one house that had a bowl full of Kit Kats. This house looked like no one was
in it, the lights were off, and the car was gone. I was temped to take the candy
I only took one for two reasons, I knew it was wrong, and I hate Kit Kats. My
friends took more than one and right after a woman came out of the house yelling
at them to get back here. I apologized
to the lady for my friends' behavior and was off. The point of this story is that
you never know who is watching you. Just remember to be on your best behavior
this Halloween!
